ETA: the draw for the Sketch Support books is now closed - I'll post the winner's name on Thursday the 19th. Good luck!!!
I guess if you have found yourself here either: A) the link from Megan's blog worked or B) you recently found out that I've started blogging! Either way I'm thrilled that you stopped by.
As mentioned in my previous post, Sketch Support is hopping around to each Creative Team Member in a 'Get to Know You' celebration. What are we celebrating? Two new Sketch Support books!!! Yay!!
One Page Sketches Volume II and Travel Sketches are new releases this Spring. Be sure to check them out!! They are AWESOME!!
For those of you close by, you can purchase these and other Sketch Support books direct from me, or even better, leave a comment at the bottom of this long post for your chance to WIN!!
That's right I'll be drawing two random names from all those who leave a comment. And so are all the other Creative Team Members!
As well, each of the CT Members are posting their takes on the following sketch from the new One Page Sketches Vol. II. You can see my layout below.
It's not hard to tell that I've rotated the sketch with the square photos on the bottom and rather than the journal block on the left, I've added my story around the centre of the layout.
I hand cut the arrows out of chipboard and covered them in ripped pieces of Heidi Swapp number tape (I've been hording that stuff forever!). I scuffed up the surface after all the tape was adhered and then inked over top with Ranger's Distress Ink. I love how it turned out.
Now, for the 'get to know you' questions:
How long have you been scrapbooking?
I’ve been scrapbooking for 12 years. I was 8 months pregnant with my first daughter when I attended my very first scrapbooking home party and it got me; hook, line and sinker!!
Why did you start scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking mainly because I was looking for a way to document the birth and ‘firsts’ of my new baby’s life but quickly became so much more than that.
What is your favourite time of day to scrapbook?Tee-Hee, I have to laugh at this one!! Any time is a good time to scrapbook!!
But if I have to pick one particular time of day I would say at night. I am a night owl!! I love it when everyone else is asleep and the house is quiet. I have been known to stay up all night, and my husband, who gets up really early for work will kiss me good-night in the morning!!
How often do you scrapbook?
A lot more now that I’m part of the Sketch Support Creative Team! I can tell when I haven’t created something for a few days…I get cranky and irritable. It’s called PMS or Person-Must-Scrapbook! LOL!!Where you do scrapbook/what does your space look like?
I’m really lucky to have my own studio (aka extra bedroom) where I can stash all my things. I’ve got shelves and baskets, buckets, bins full of supplies and tools. My work table is pretty large with all my must have’s at my fingertips. I’m a messy scrapper though so I end up working in a tiny little area of the desk with my stuff piled all over.
When I'm not scrapbooking you can find me...
….doing anything creative. I love to make things; from fabric flowers, to felted handbags, to scarves. If I find something neat in a magazine or online I love to recreate it making it my own; to just play and experiment.
What is your favourite thing about using sketches?
I think sketches are so versatile. You can copy them to the letter or find simple inspiration in them. They take so much of the guess work out of scrapbooking. They have become one of my favourite tools and MUST HAVES when I’m creating. I seriously don’t know how I would even start a page on my own now – and why would I since there are so many Sketch Support Sketches to pick from?
What is your favourite sketch from Sketch Support? How do you possibly limit the choice to just one? I’ve got at least half a dozen All-Time favourites! I guess if I have to pick just one…it would have to be this one:
And that’s because it’s the one that I submitted to Allison and Sketch Support for my very first Creative Team Call – and I got picked!!! Honestly, my top scrapbooking moment of all time was the email Allison sent congratulating me!!
Thanks Allison and thanks Sketch Support!!!Be sure to check out Christy Arthur's blog. Christy is next on the hop....so hop on over and check our her layout, answers to her 'get to know you' questions and while you're there, be sure to leave a comment for your chance to win a copy of Sketch Support's new books!!
Thanks again for stopping by, and I hope you visit again soon!
Enjoy,
~Janette
