Take 12 for April

I finally finished my layout for Ella Publishing's Take Twelve Photo Challenge. I decided to go simple this time, wait...who am I kidding? I think all my layouts for this challenge have been fairly simple! {wink}

Once I had the photos printed (btw, I used Black's software to print 9 - 4x6 two ups for a total of 18 images) I realised that the majority of them were vertical or portrait orientation. I flipped through the sketches in the Guided Inspiration Kit for some help. In a matter of seconds I knew which one I would use. I tweaked the sketch a little bit, adding in the two photos left of the journal strip in order to fit all 12 on the page.

Once the general photo placement was set, I was on the hunt for the perfect patterned paper...my layout was starting to come together.

The printed 4 on the paper led me to my stash of chipboard numbers and brackets, my title was born - a little happy dance around my room!!

I inked the edges of three of the numbers and covered the brackets in washi tape. (I'm thrilled at so many positive comments from my last post on the chipboard arrows covered in tape - thanks!!)

  

I needed to add some orange to the right of the layout to bring some unity and flow to the two pages, so I punched a paper strip and tucked it under the photos. Some simple stitching in yellow tied the yellow number and the yellow in the photos together.  

After sitting here looking at the images, I think it needs another strip of tape at the top don't you? And maybe a touch more yellow too. I think I'm going to go back and add two or three little yellow brads beside the photos on the left.

A layout is never really finished is it? Are you like me; going back and adding little bits of this, little bits of that. Letting the layout simmer and taking second and third looks at it?

Edited to add: I went ahead and made the changes to my layout and posted them above with the originals. Is the layout now done? I think so...{wink}
