The Stamping Gear

This month one of the new classes in the Paper-ED curriculum is Stamping Gear, a new tool from EK Success.

To be honest, when I first saw the tool last summer, I didn't really give it much attention. We had a cardboard stand set up at the front of the Michael's store filled with wheels and cogs and cling stamps. The outside of the stand was covered in images of what looked like a new version of the Spirograph set I had as a kid. Remember those?

When the Stamping Gear class appeared in the list being offered this quarter I knew I was going to have learn the ins and outs of how it worked. A few weeks ago I spent a few hours on a Saturday afternoon playing with stamps and inks getting the hang of it all.

It didn't take that long to create some interesting patterns and shapes. Mixing images and blending the colours created even more intricate results. I stamped on cardstock, patterned paper and canvas, all with their own subtle differences. I quickly fell in love!

Check out the video below for a quick introduction to Stamping Gear if you haven't seen it in store. Oh, and be sure to turn on your speakers, there's some toe-tapping, smile forming, head-bobbing music....I love it!! LOL!!

During class we'll create both open and closed designs with the wheels and cogs. We will alternate colours and layer images. Techniques will range from basic to more advanced for those wanting to push themselves and break out of a comfort zone.
Finished samples can be used as cards or also as embellishments on scrapbook layouts.

Visit the LEARN page on The Kit Company website for class dates and details.

** Note: you don't have to purchase the Stamping Gear tools prior to class, feel free to use the one in the classroom first!

Enjoy,
~J
